Lenovo is a budget-friendly tablet. It is a two-in-one device with a lot of features. However, sometimes, the touch screen of your Lenovo tablet fails to work properly. It is a matter of great concern.
Of course, the tablet becomes useless if the screen is overreacting. Most people would go straight to a repair shop. But, I suggest fixing the device at home.
Although you cannot repair the hardware yet can troubleshoot the software issues yourself. In most cases, the software has glitches.

Tip#3. Disconnect Peripheral Devices
Sometimes, external peripheral devices are culprits. For example, your Lenovo may be connected to a keyboard, mouse, speaker, or another device.
So, remove each device one by one and keep testing the screen functionality. In this way, you can detect which device is creating the problem. Troubleshoot that device, not your tab.
Tip#4. Check Settings
There may be some fault in the settings. For example, the touchscreen may be disabled. So, you have to check and enable it;
- In the search bar of your tab, type “Device Manager”.
- Navigate to the “Human Interface Devices”.
- Right-click the tab and then find “HID-Compliant Touchscreen”.
- Right-click it and disable HID. Then, enable it again.
Tip#5. Update the Device
Most of the time, such issues can be resolved by updating your device. You can do it manually as well as automatically. Go to the “Update & Security” tab to install the drivers.
You can also take assistance from an external updater. For example, a very helpful software is “Driver Easy”. Install and run it on your tab.
Follow the on-screen prompts to detect and repair the issue. It will install missing or corrupted drivers. Likewise, “Restoro” is another tool for this purpose.
Tip#6. Reinstall the Drivers
Some touchscreen drivers are missing. That’s why it is not working properly. I found uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers an effective solution.
- Open Device Manager by typing in the search bar.
- Navigate to the “Mice and Other Pointing Devices”.
- Then, click “USB Touchscreen Controller”. Find the “USB Root Hub” option and enable it.
- Select the “Touchscreen drivers” and uninstall them.
- Check the box saying “Delete the Driver Software for this Device”.
- Restart your Lenovo and the drivers will install automatically.
Tip#7. Run an SFC Scan
Another potential solution is to run an SFC (System File Checker) scan. Here is the process;
- In the Windows search bar, type “CMD”.
- Run the program as admin.
- Type “SFC/scan now”.
- Then, restart your Lenovo tablet.
- This method repairs the broken registry keys. Hence, the screen will start working normally.
Tip#8. Run Hardware Troubleshooter
The built-in troubleshooter can diagnose the issue. Hence, you can resolve it accordingly. Here is how to do it;
- Open “Settings” on your Lenovo tablet.
- Next, go to the “Update & Security” section.
- Choose “Troubleshoot” and then click “Launch the Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter”.
- Wait for the results to detect the root cause.

Tip#9. Reset Your Lenovo Device
Consider this fix as the last resort. It does not delete any data. However, resetting will alter many settings. But, it removes corrupted files and faulty configurations.
- Open the “Settings” from the “Start Menu”.
- Choose “Update & Security” and then click “Recovery”.
- At the top, the “Reset this PC” option will appear.
- Hit the “Get Started” button.
- Finally, tap the “OK” and “Keep my files” buttons.
- Hopefully, the error will be fixed.
Tip#10. Reverse Windows Updates
This is a special case that the touchscreen of your Lenovo stopped working after an update. You can fix the issue by reversing the update.
- Open the “Start Menu” on your tab. Then, go to “Settings” by clicking the gear icon.
- Next, choose “Update & Security”.
- Select, “View Update History” under the Windows Update menu.
- Find and click “Uninstall Updates”. Here, you will uninstall the latest update.
- Then, check the touchscreen functionality.
Tip#11. Contact Lenovo Support
I fixed my Lenovo tab by applying the above-mentioned troubleshooting steps. They work 100% for software issues. However, in case of hardware defects, you have to consult Lenovo technical support.
You can also take the device to an authorized repair store. The screen may be damaged due to water contact or physical shocks. Only an expert technician can detect and fix the issue.
