Have you dropped your tablet accidentally? So, now it won’t turn ON or its touchscreen is not working. In some cases, a dropping causes irreparable damage.
The user has to replace the screen. However, in some situations, the device can be repaired. I have found a few potential solutions. You can try these tricks to fix your tablet.
1. Force Restart Your Tablet
The first solution is to force restart your tablet. It has been turned OFF by the shock. So, a force restart can revive it.
Press and hold down the “Power” button for 15 seconds or until your tablet comes ON. Repeat this process a few more times.
2. Charge Your Device
The battery slipped or drained out when the device dropped down. Therefore, it won’t turn ON. Connect the charger to your tab and leave it for 1 hour.
Then, try to turn ON your device. If still it is not responding, leave it plugged in for 24 hours. Hopefully, it would turn ON.
3. Enter Recovery Mode
If the tablet is ON but the screen is not working, enter the recovery mode. The method may differ across various brands. However, I am sharing a general method;
- Press and hold down the “Power” and “Volume Down” buttons for a few seconds.
- Hold the buttons until the “Recovery” menu appears on the screen.
- Highlight the “recovery mode” using the volume buttons.
- Boot the device in safe mode.
4. Clean Your Device
A minor issue can lead to an unresponsive touchscreen. For example, the screen or its protector is dirty. Dust build-up has caused the issue.
- Clean the dirt using a soft and dry cloth.
- Then, use a glass liquid cleaner to remove the remaining dust.
- Remove the back cover of your tab and clean thoroughly.
- For advanced cleaning, remove the screen protector.
- Clean the screen directly and paste a new protector.
5. Disconnect Peripherals
The device can be recovered by disconnecting all the peripheral devices. Take out the SIM card tray. Remove SIM, SD card, and other external devices. If possible, remove the battery of your tablet. After a few minutes, reinsert everything.
6. Check the Video Cable
Your tablet may turn ON but the screen will not respond. In this case, the video cable of the device is loose or broken. So, a technician should check it by opening the device. You have to remove the back cover of the tablet. Then, check and fix the cables.
7. Revive Digitizer
The tab screen has a digitizer that keeps it running. The connection may have loosened internally. That’s why your tab touchscreen is not working.
Gently tap and press all four corners of the screen. This will help revive the connection. Otherwise, the device needs to be opened up.
8. Test the Faulty Areas
Sometimes, the entire touchscreen becomes unresponsive. While in other cases, only some areas fail to respond. So, test the screen by performing different actions.
Enable the screen rotation and check its functioning in all orientations. Likewise, you can check via maps by zooming in. Tap all areas of the screen to check its responsiveness.
There is an app called Touchscreen Test. Download it on your tablet and test the screen. You can connect a mouse and keyboard to operate the device manually.
9. Dropped Your Tablet in Water?
Most tablets are waterproof and can withstand light rain or moisture. However, long contact with water can damage the internal components.
Moisture may have entered the charging port or the motherboard. Put your tab into a container filled with raw rice for 48 hours. All the moisture will be sucked by the rice. Then, charge and turn ON your device.
10. Motherboard is Damaged
Another reason is that the motherboard of your tablet has been damaged. This is the mainboard controlling the whole device. So, any damage to the motherboard will create serious issues.
Take your device to a certified technician or manufacturer. Replacing the mainboard or its damaged components can fix the issue.
